I read that putting weight on too fast could cause stretch marks. I also heard drinking plenty of water helps keep skin hydrated and supple to help prevent stretch marks. I know of 2 guys who had stretch marks: one had them because he had a major growth spurt (during puberty) and the other gained like 20-30 pounds in less than 3 months (eating junk food & not exercising).

I think it's more of a genetic thing. I'm physically fit but besides my normal daily routine didn't "exercise" with any of my first three kids and don't have a single stretch mark anywhere. When I remembered I would use my cocoa butter cream and vitamin E oil but it wasn't a daily regimen. I'm on #4 and I don't expect any this time either. My mother never had any stretch marks with the three of us. I'm honestly not sure if there's anything you can actively do to not make it happen! (Even though some lotion companies would like us to think so!)

I would think it would help keep them away since it's helping keep your muscles in shape. People that exercise a lot before and during pregnancy seem to have the least stretch marks.

I am not certain, but from what I have read staying in shape and excercising helps to keep them away and make labor easier. I would say to jog as long as your comfortable.
